These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. Rev. 14:4.

What is the standard by which we measure ourselves as Christians? Let the Bible show forth its true men. Look into the face of Joseph. That married woman came to him and offered him a shrunken womanhood for a sterling manhood. Without hesitation he said, "Woman, my decision is on the side of God." Think of Daniel, in the full bloom of youth, with head up and shining eyes: "Thank you, gentlemen, I do not drink." Consider Moses, with all the education of a great civilization. The queen mother rises to place upon his brow the crown of the Pharaohs. Immediately he declares, "I am not the son of Pharaoh's daughter. I am the son of the living God."

Would that there were great multitudes of Christians who could stand these tests, who could be really trusted for honesty and purity, who rise conspicuously above the vulgar standards of the world, whose faith in God is unmovable. The world in admiration, if not in imitation, will stand bareheaded to admire and respect them, simple people though they may be.

At the religious rituals, the external observances and multiplied church functions, men of the world will only look on as at some passing show. By such things they will not be impressed or moved. They will not be converted. But let the remnant church produce one Joseph, one Moses, one Daniel, or one Paul, and more will be converted to Christ than by all the evangelistic programs.

Like them we are to render a living verdict for Christ and His righteousness at all times. Is it any use to call oneself a Christian and not be a distinguished one? At the solemn bar of divine judgment we will not be asked about our theories, but about our commitment to Christ.

There is a lot of discussion on religion that never amounts to much. The might-have-beens in the Bible reveal the tragedy of failing to stand true when brought into the valley of decision. There was Esau, who sold his heritage for a mess of pottage; and Gehazi private secretary to Elisha, who sold himself for a new suit and a wedge of gold. There was Judas Iscariot, who had the glorious privilege of walking with Christ on earth. He threw it all away for thirty pieces of silver.
